The American Lutheran Church is an international church with members from many nations. We are truly showing that in Christ we are one.
Matthew 28:19-20 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Galatians 3:27-28 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Romans 12:5 so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
The American Lutheran Church in Oslo, would like to welcome all who wants to be a member of our church. There are two different memberships;
- Associated membership - Full membership
As an associated member, you will keep your membership in your original church, but can participate in all off our Congregation's activities and voting at the Annual General Meeting. As a full member, you cannot be a member of any other church.
If you want to apply for membership, you can find the form in the church or online. The application has to be handed in by you personally to the church office, or to the Membership Chairman. When the application has been received, it will be put forward at the next Council meeting to be accepted.
Twice a year we have a presentation during the Sunday service. Here new members are presented to the congregation and handed over their Membership Certificates.
We hope that we can reach out and invite you to join us in our congregation.
Matthew 7:7-8 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

The Outreach Committee meets periodically, usually about one time each month. Currently much of the work has been focused on Ghana and the ongoing projects there that the ALC is involved with. These projects include support of both the Christian school and Christian orphanage in Damongo.
Please come and join us at our next meeting if you are interested in finding out more about what we are doing. Many members of the ALC have travelled to Ghana and have seen firsthand what is going on there and the wonderful work that God is allowing us to take part in. Perhaps you may be interested in joining one of the upcoming trips. There are usually one or two trips each year.
For further information about our committee or about the Ghana project, please contact Jim at 22616642 or by email at

Dear Members and Friends,
Our congregation is a multinational congregation which God has brought together from many parts of the world to Norway for a purpose. Our mission is “to bring people of different nations and denominations together and using the English language, empower them to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ” (ALC Mission Statement). An important part of serving God is sharing with each other the gifts which God has bestowed on us, our talents, our time and financial resources.
In October, our congregation will be celebrating its 50th anniversary. For 50 years God has blessed our congregation and our church and insured that our needs have always been met. This year our financial needs are especially great. Needed repairs and renovation to the church building and the parsonage have been higher than budgeted. Also higher electricity prices have resulted in higher than budgeted heating costs. Higher expenses mean that we must increase our offerings, if we want to continue offering the same activities and services. Our expenses have been running higher than income for most of this year, however, thanks to especially high income in June, our income and expenses through July are approximately equal. Still we have large financial commitments to meet before the end of the year.
Please, therefore, on the occasion of our 50th anniversary, we ask you to give an extra special donation to the church in addition to your regular offerings. The gift can be deposited directly into the church’s bank account number 5081.07.47827 or placed in the offering plate in any Sunday service. Remember gifts to the church are tax deductible in Norway up to 12,000 kroner per annum for those with taxable income.
Most importantly, remember that your gift is not only a gift to the church, it is a gift to God and a way of saying thank you for all the blessings that God has given you.
Yours in Christ,
The ALC Stewardship Committee, Alexander Lal, Chairman

Voluntary service is at the heart of our congregation. We depend on our members to volunteer for most of the tasks in our congregation. Fortunately, a lot of our members are doing a fantastic job helping out with a wide range of tasks. Our Congregation is blessed with lots of talent and service. However, we should all feel responsible in helping and sharing the burden. It is easy to think that someone else will take care of things, but if everyone thinks like that, not much will get done.
Remember we are doing this for the Lord. Volunteering to work for Him in His church is a blessing from Him. He has endowed us with gifts so that everyone in His church is able to help out with something, no matter how small the task is.We invite more people to continuously participate in taking care of our church. Time and Talent sheets can be filled out by all members of our congregation. To get a Time and Talent Sheet contact one of the volunteer members, one of the membership members or the church office or you can find it on the web page.
Thanks and God bless |

An important element in the life of the body of Christ is fellowship. God created us with a desire to draw closer to Him, and to Worship in fellowship.
When we read the Bible, we find that most events where Jesus followers were gathered food was served.
..and that is what the Fellowship Committee at the ALC is all about, creating opportunities to fellowship,...and the food to go with it.
- We are responsible for arranging, or facilitating;
special events, such as Valentines Dinner, Seder Meal,
-
Pot Luck meals, where everybody who can brings in a dish to share with others
-
Baby Showers, Retreats and Picnics
-
Coffee and Waffles after the Worship service
In addition we coordinate a Sports Ministry with events such as Tennis, Family Golf and Men's Golf
The Fellowship Committee also sends out card for newborns, members in the hospital and in the event of death of a member.
The committee is naturally responsible for the operation and stocking the kitchen, procuring small appliances and equipment.
Everybody is welcome to all our events. The events are a good way for visitors, new members, or family members to get to know others in the congregation.
We are always looking for people to help out; either on a one-time basis, or on a more regular basis. Everybody can join in and help out; it is fun and gives a sense of accomplishment making things nice for others.
If you have questions, ideas, or want to help out, feel free to contact the Fellowship Commitee;
