Town Hall Meeting regarding the work of the Access Committee On Sunday, March 27th, members of ALC gathered in the Sanctuary after our morning worship service to hear the Access Committee report on their work. Committee members Deborah Kitchen Doderlein and Dick Knutson reported on where the work of the Committee is today.
We heard a thorough desciption of the various options the Access Committee has considered to provide access to our building for those who have mobility challenges with a description of the relative strengths and weaknesses of each option.
The Access Committee unanimously recommended a Lift System as the best option to give the fullest access to the various parts of the ALC building. We also received a description of some of the technical considerations for the Lift option as well as some discussion of the various considerations for establishing a timetable for the project.
ALC Treasurer Bob Sebro presented information regarding what funds are on hand as reserved for the Access project and other aspects of the ALC’s current financial situation. Throughout the Town Hall meeting many questions were asked and answered regarding the question of access and the Lift option. As the meeting proceeded a strong desire to have this project realized among those present was expressed many times includng several commitments of financial support toward its completion.
Council President Eric Mandeville closed the meeting out with a discussion of the process from this point. It was a very encouraging meeting. Thanks are due to Deborah Kitchen Doderlein, Dick Knutson, Bob Sebro and Eric Mandeville for their respective presentations, and to the Access Committee (past and present members) for their commitment and hard work and to Don Kepley for moderating the Town Hall meeting itself.
