ALFRED J. WATLAND

Born May 4, 1885, LeRoy, Minn., to Bjørn Jonas (1854-1904) and Elizabeth (Spande, 1861-1913) Wat1and.

Brothers: Burdick (1887-1912); John (1897-). Sisters: Maimi (1889-1919); Ann (1891-); Celia (1893-1957); Ella (1900-).

 

Married Gertrude Johnson, Mar. 10, 1910, Frost, Minn. Lived near LeRoy, Minn.; Ft. Yates, N.D.; Adams, Minn.; Jackson, Minn., farmer till 1910, then farm implement business.

He took great interest in community affairs: Mayor of Jackson; Sunday School Supt. 40 years; Board of Publications of Augsburg Publishing House; Board of Trustees of E.L.C. 14 years; Board of Reagents of St. 0laf College, etc.

Son: Buren (b. 1912; m. Evelyn Wigen, 1937, Hettinger, N.D.)
