He worked at the carpenter trade on Staten Island, 

was active at Zion Lutheran Church as s.s. teacher, deacon, trustee, etc.

He worked at the Shipbuilding Div. of Bethlehem Steel Co., 

until his final illness and retirement. 

It was on a trip back to Norway to visit his parents that he met and married Helga Hansen.
