Born Mar. 27, 1860, Almoen, Hegre, Trondheim i Norway to Annanias and Anna Roningen Sorenson. Immigrated in 1865, by sail ship, landing at Quebec, Canada, after a hazardous journey of 49 days at sea, then on to Alamakee Co., Ia., and from there, in 1872, to a farm near Ossian, Ia. In 1876 the family moved to a farm near LeRoy, Minn.
This farm is now (1964) farmed by his son Enoch B.
Soren was confirmed on Palm Sunday, 1876, in Bethany Luthco Church, LeRoy, Miinn., where he remained a staunch member and supporter for 68 yrs. Married Louisa J. Sogn, of Canton, S.D., Jan. 23, 1891. He held several positions of trust in the community, often representing his church at conventions.
Died Sept. 30, 1944. Interment, Bethany Luth. Cemetary in LeRoy.

LeRoy, Minn.; Edna (b. July 27, 1900) teacher, Edison High School, Mpls.; Helen S. (b. Feb. 26, 1902; m. C.A. Williams) Fargo, N.D.;
Ruth C. (b. Aug. 9, 1907; m. D.W. Boyette) Chatham, N.J.; Enoch B. (b. Oct. 6, 1909) farmer, Ostrander, Minn.; Selmer J. (b. Apr. 13, 1913; d. Dec. 30, 1944); Leland S. (b. May 23, 1915) supervisor with Liberty Mutual Ins. Co., Mpls. 20 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren (dated 1964) .
