SIGURD OLAI SANDE Born May 11, 1883, Sande, Sunnfjord, Norway to Johan Olsen (1855-1936) and Sara (Davidsdatter; d. 1883) Sande. Immigrated in 1903 to Wis., then in 1906 to Canada. Married Astrid Ludviska Sande, June 19, 1911, Red Deer, Alberta, Can. Died Oct. 21, 1963, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. Brothers and sisters - Samuel Olai (1888-1940), Olga Grosseth (b. 1890); Martine Løvfall (1892-1942); Astrid Løvfall (1895-1957). In 1910 he took a visit to Norway, and his fiancee, Astrid immigrated the following year. He took great interest in matters of church and state. He was a councillor for 25 years and a reeve for 12 yrs. of Dist. of Lochearn, No. 401, Leslieville.

SANDE, ASTRID Born June 17, 1882, Bergen, Norway to Ludvig Andersen (1850-1938) and Anna pedersdatter (Bruland; 1849-1911) Sande. Immigrated in 1911. Married Sigurd Olai Sande, June 19, 1911, Red Deer, Alta., Canada. Died Dec. 1, 1960, at Red Deer.
Brothers and sisters: Albert (b. 1879); Inga Johannessen (1881-1954), Per (1884-1961); Carl (b. 1887); Marie (1889-1952); Andrew (b. 1894).
Three sons and three daughters. Their first child, Svanhild was born on May 17, 1912, an auspicious event, followed by generous hospitality in their home, especially for the Norwegian pioneers. Astrid was a member of the first Lutheran congregation at Leslieville. She was a faithful and devout member, especially interested in World Missions. In 1935 she returned to Norway for a stay of nine months, visiting her father and family whom she had not seen since 1911.
