Lars, her husband, after a lingering illness died, and left Lise with the small children.
She had six children, three born in Norway, and three in America.

"Her children received a thorough Christian training from a mother who knew the catechetical books by heart. She had a native ability as a nurse, so she was nurse, doctor, and midwife in the pioneer community, serving thus for 30 years. Once when winter snows were piled high a messenger came on skis with an urgent message. She took her paraphernalia and went on skis on her mission of mercy. From her have come strong, conscientious, and industrious descendents, many of whom are in college and university pursuits, ranking high in church and state."

Honored by: Lela Larson (wife of an Atty.), Rochester, Minn.; Henrietta M. Larson, Prof., Harvard U., Boston, Mass.; Agnes M. Larson, Prof., St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn.; Nora L. Larson, Assoc. Prof., St. Olaf College; Emilie Larson, Guidance Counselor, public schools, Newton, Mass.;
