Born Nov. 19, 1852, Kolbu,

V.Toten, Norway to Christian (1822-1895) and Helene (1823-1905) Nedrud.

Immigrated in 1869 to Lansing, Ia., at age 16. Married Petra Dorothea

Listerud, July 24, 1876, Willmar, Minn. Died Sept. 1938, Minot, N.D.

Children: Mrs. C.P. Lee; Agnes Nedrud; Morriss Nedrud; Mrs. Helen Marie Strom; Mrs. Ilnanda Saugstad; Carl Nedrud, Harry Nedrud;
Dr. H.J. Nedrud; Willard, who died at age 14.

As a lad of 16 Anders wanted to go to sea, but his parents persuaded him to go to America instead. After his marriage they bought a farm near Renville, Minn. He sold the farm and bought a general store in Sacred Heart, Minn., which he in turn sold, and then he went west to Minot, N.D. in 1886, walking the last 25 miles, as the Great Northern Railway had not yet reached Minot. When he got all his possessions, including lumber for a house, that night the town burned and he lost all.  The next day his wife and four children arrived. They built a sod shanty for a home. He served in the first N.D. legislature after the state was admitted to the union. They were active members of First Lutheran Church, where he served as secretary for 25 years.
In the early days people came to the jack-of-all-trades Nedrud to have their teeth pulled. One day a young lad came to town and asked for the dentist who pulled teeth free of charge.
