MARKVE, KNUT O. Born Sept. 15, 1834, Voss, Norway, to Olav K. (b. GjØstein, 1806-55, a goldsmith)and Brytva (1805-61) Larsdatter Nesheim Markve. The oldest of eight children. The others were: Stor Lars; Vetle Lars; Ola (d. in infancy); Guri (married to Sjur Nesheim); Ingrid; Olina.  Members of Vinje church.

Married Anna Andersdatter Raustad (born in Voss, Norway; immigrated in 1883; died Aug. 31, 1944, Northwood, N.D., at age 97, leaving 73 descendants at time of her death) .  (Anna had three sisters and five brothers; all but one came to U.S.A., to Sioux Falls, and to Watertown, S.D.)

Knut immigrated to S.D.-to Arlington, to Seneca, back to Arlington, to Waubay, S.D. Died, 1927, age 93.
Children: Ole (married Tilda Hansdatter Gjuv, Waubay, S.D.; six children) farmer; Martha (married Ole Flisrand, farmer); Andrew, (six children), farmer; Bertha; Arthur; Clara.
