altLEE, GEORGE (JORGEN GUNDERSON LIA) Born Oct. 9, 1858, Veraarshei, Norway, to Gunder Vegaarstøl and Ingeborg (Haugeland) Lia. Baptised and confirmed at Vergaarstøl Luth. Church.
Immigrated to Washington Island, Wis., 1880. Married to Nettie Gilbert, July 23, 1891, Alban, Wis. Died Oct. 4, 1951, Iola, wis. with burial at Northland Church cemetery.
Shortly after immigration Lee moved to the Portage County and Waupaca County area of Wis. where he lived and worked as a lumberjack and farmer until his death. He was a member of Northland Luth. Church, Iola, Wis.
Brothers: Anon, Hans, Ole, Otto, Emil, pedar. Sisters:
Tomine, Emma, Kirsten, Andria, Gunhild, Inger.
Children: Guy, Gilbert, Ida (deceased). Myrtle (m. Henry Dahlen), Hilda (m. Clarence Hanson), Francis (m. Lawrence Austreng) .
12 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren (1965).
