HOYME, GJERMUND Born Oct. 8, 1847; Vestre Slidre, Non-lay -to

Gjermund and Sigrid C. (Ridste) Hoyme. Immigrated in 1851. Married to Ida

O. Olson (1874-1905) Attended Augsburg Seminary, Wisconsin University,

ordained 1873. Served parishes at Duluth, Minn.; Menomonie, Wis.;

Eau C1aire, Wis.; was on the Union Committee that led up to the

merger in 1917; president of the United Lutheran Church up to the merger.

Author and editor of many pieces of literature. One daughter Ragnhi1d married Dr. Johan Arnd Aasgaard who spent a lifetime in the service of the church; President of the Norwegian Lutheran Church

(name changed to Evangelical Lutheran Church in 1946) 1925-1954, which

became the American Lutheran Church, Jan. 1, 1961.

Gjermund Hoyme died June 9, 1902.
